White is a very luxurious color in this book. Daisy has white everything in her house, along with a white car. They also describe her by using white a lot. Such as her white neck or her white girlhood. -SB
"... a cheerful red-and-white Georgian Colonial mansion" (page 6) The color of the Buchanan's house could be a contrast between Tom and Daisy. The red represents Tom and the white represents Daisy. It could also show the contrast in the events to come, the relationship between Tom and Daisy, or the idea that everyone is full of both good and bad. -TJ
White can represent purity. In the book, Daisy starts off very innocent and they describe her using white in the beginning of the novel a lot. -SB
"Taking a white card from his wallet, he waved it before the man's eyes." (Fitzgerald, 68). This quote shows that white means power. Its because he got caught speeding but when he was pulled over he showed him the card and he let him go. -SB
